FAQ – Driving Lessons for Novices

As a novice driver you have the choice: I am happy to offer you Driving Lessons for Novices with an automatic or manual car.

More and more learner drivers are opting for a driving licence with automatic vehicles. Nevertheless, a licence with a manual gearbox can make sense if, for example, your employer provides you with a car or you have to change vehicles more frequently.

The training at the driving school is basically the same – both in theory and in practice.

The driving lessons must be paid in advance, either in cash or by bank transfer.

There is no law in Switzerland that prescribes a minimum number of driving lessons. Only your driving ability is assessed.

For novice drivers this means: the number of lessons is not decisive – what counts is whether you can drive safely. For this, a practical driving test is required, and your Driving Lessons for Novices are designed to prepare you for exactly that.

Around 30 lessons of 45 minutes each. However, you do not necessarily need the same number of driving lessons.

Some novice drivers are admitted to the driving test after just 10 hours, others need a little more. The number of driving lessons is not a question of intelligence.

A serious driving instructor only sends their students to the driving test once they have sufficient routine from their Driving Lessons for Novices.

If, as a novice driver, you have the opportunity, you should deepen your driving practice privately alongside your Driving Lessons for Novices. This way you gain additional safety in everyday life. Make sure you always follow these rules.

Around 1 hour. Of this, about 45 minutes is actual driving time that you spend on the road with the examiner.

For safety reasons, you may only take the test in the driving school vehicle.

If you do not pass the practical test, you can repeat it after a waiting period. Further information from the Road Traffic Office in the event of a failed test.

Of course not. 😉

The traffic examiners only assess how you behave in traffic and whether you endanger yourself or others.

I will prepare you thoroughly for the driving test so that you don’t have to worry.

You must cancel agreed lessons with the driving school at least 72 hours in advance.

As a rule, the driving lesson starts at the agreed railway station. If this is not possible, we can arrange an individual meeting point that suits you.

The driving tests for novice drivers take place in the canton of Zug and in the canton of Lucerne.
